An estimated 10,000 birds were left in a tractor-trailer outside a distribution center in New Castle, Delaware, on May 5. Freedom Ranger Hatchery in Reinholds released the following statement:

The First State Animal Center and SPCA of Delaware is caring for thousands of baby birds, all rescued from a delivery truck left sitting in the heat for days. Thousands of birds on board died after spending three days on the truck without food or water.
