Former Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.) reported to prison Friday afternoon, officially capping off the New York Republican’s dramatic rise-and-fall in politics that saw him ascend as a GOP trailblazer before plunging to disgrace.

The New York Republican pleaded guilty last summer to federal wire fraud and aggravated identity theft charges for deceiving donors and stealing people's identities in order to fund his congressional campaign.

Santos pleaded guilty in August, admitting to a series of schemes as he ran for elected office, including submitting fraudulent campaign finance reports and stealing from his donors' credit cards.
