The Scarlet Knights are the answer to an interesting tidbit of history. On Saturday, Nov. 6, 1869, they faced New Jersey, later known as Princeton, in the first college football game. The game was played on a field in New Brunswick that would later serve as the site Rutgers Gymnasium. Rutgers won, 6-4.
