Karen popped up at the same latitude as Minneapolis, while Jerry douses the Northern Leeward Islands, Priscilla threatens to drench the U.S. Southwest, and an unnamed storm slams the Mid-Atlantic coast.

Cal Fire public information officer Robert Foxworthy said that the storm will definitely help lower the chance of fires in the Bay Area, but emphasized that there’s no way to guarantee an end to wildfire risk in other California regions, since the storm will not hit much of the state.

Subtropical Storm Karen was way out at sea the morning of Oct. 10, as it became the 11th named storm of the Atlantic season.
