For some residents, the morning shake was a reminder of a powerful quake that also struck near Anchorage in late November, at a similar time of the morning, seven years ago. The 2018 earthquake was 7.1 in magnitude and crippled infrastructure in the southern part of the state.
Two minor earthquakes were recorded in Ohio and Pennsylvania over the weekend, with one centered in the Valley and another near the Ohio-Kentucky border.
The Sacramento Bee reported that at least 20 earthquakes, ranging from Mill Valley to Half Moon Bay were reported Sunday morning. The U.S. The Geological Survey said a total of eight earthquakes of at least 2.5 were recorded by noon yesterday. Seven were recorded within the city limits of San Ramon.
There were no immediate reports of major damage, but the state transportation department said it would survey roads, bridges and other infrastructure.
A magnitude 4.6 earthquake rattled the Island of Hawaii late Tuesday night, the U.S. Geological Survey’s Hawaiian Volcano Observatory reported. The quake occurred at 11:49 p.m. HST on November 25, 2025, about 9 miles south-southeast of Fern Forest. It originated roughly 3 miles below sea level.
Here’s the good news: small earthquakes like this are typically harmless. In fact, they’re fairly common across the eastern Tennessee seismic zone, which stretches into northwest Georgia. Most of the time, these quakes are too weak to feel. But, today’s was just strong enough to get a little attention.
The quake happened at 11:19 p.m. PT Thursday night near Kelowna, B.C., according to Earthquakes Canada. The agency's website shows it's received dozens of reports from people in the city and the surrounding area reporting weak to strong shaking.
