The Iran war entered a new and volatile phase on Friday after a U.S. F‑15E fighter jet was shot down.
The F-15E was the first American warplane shot down by Iran in the five-week war and a crew member is missing. A second U.S. combat plane crashed in the Gulf region and its pilot was rescued, U.S. officials said.
As Iran rejected US' ceasefire plan, it counter-proposed its own 10-point plan to permanently end the ongoing war in the Middle East, as reported by the Iranian state news agency IRNA. The plan includes the lifting of international sanctions on the Islamic Republic.
President Donald Trump on Sunday threatened once more to strike Iran’s civilian infrastructure if it does not move to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, raising the specter that the U.S. could commit what are considered to be war crimes in the country.
