First Alert Weather days have been issued as North Texas' first soaking rains of 2025 arrive Tuesday night, ramping up through Wednesday and Thursday.

Showers and storms will arrive in North Texas late Saturday, Jan. 25. Rain chances (20%) will arrive with a weak cold front, with the best chances for precipitation south and east of the Metroplex, according to the National Weather Service Fort Worth. A few isolated thunderstorms are possible, although severe weather is not expected.

A Cold Weather Advisory will remain in effect through 9 a.m. Monday morning. The temperature will dip into the teens in many areas, and wind chill values will plummet into the single digits. More sunshine returns for most of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday, but that sunshine won’t provide much warmth, with highs only climbing into the 30s.

The surface winds turn west or southwest Thursday into Friday and the warming trend continues. Temperatures on Friday will warm into the mid to upper 60s. Enjoy the pleasant weather while it lasts because an Arctic front will move into North Texas on Saturday, dropping temperatures drastically.

With Sunday's highs in the upper 40s and low 50s, North Texas will see its first major soaking of the year later this week, bringing heavy rain and possible flooding from Wednesday to Friday.
