Debutant Harshit Rana grabbed three wickets and vice-captain Shubman Gill hit 87 runs off 96 balls for India to beat England by four wickets in the first one-day international at VCA Stadium on Thursday.

Gill, who dropped down to No.3 as India handed debut to Yashasvi Jaiswal, smashed 87 off 96 balls to help India chase down the 249-run target in 38.4 overs.

India rode on fifties by Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel to register a four-wicket win against England and go one-up in the three-match One-Day International series.
