The Canadian multihyphenate could be going out with a bang, with Hurry Up Tomorrow reportedly his ‘final’ release under The Weeknd moniker; an alias that’s seen him release six studio albums across a career spanning 14 years. Born Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, The Weeknd dropped his first mixtape, House of Balloons, in 2011.

The Canadian pop supernova born Abel Tesfaye has indicated that this album will be the final one under the moniker the Weeknd, his unknowable persona. The title is a big fat clue: Tesfaye can’t wait until the Weeknd is over.

Hurry Up Tomorrow is a similar act of leave-taking. It is touted as the last album that Abel Tesfaye will make as The Weeknd. Bowie is a reference point. The Canadian is an admirer: he titled The Weeknd’s 2016 album Starboy in tribute to Ziggy Stardust’s anthem,
