While the Patriots appear to be toying with a change at quarterback to spark their offense, they will not be moving on from Alex Van Pelt as the team's offensive play-caller.

The Patriots were forced to scramble at safety after starter Jabrill Peppers was arrested early Saturday morning and ruled out of Week 5 later in the afternoon. The Patriots later ruled safety Kyle Dugger (ankle) inactive on Sunday morning, thrusting Marte Mapu, Jaylinn Hawkins and undrafted rookie Dell Pettus into key roles.

The safety was arrested in Braintree and Peppers will be charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, strangulation, and possession of cocaine. He’ll be arraigned in Quincy District Court on Monday. Following the arrest, Peppers was quick to get in touch with Patriots coach Jerod Mayo.
