Florida is preparing for Hurricane Milton to make landfall just weeks after Helene caused widespread destruction.

Orlando preps for Hurricane Milton by offering free parking in downtown garages to protect residents' vehicles from the storm's effects starting Wednesday.

With Central Florida in the crosshairs of Hurricane Milton, crews are adjusting lake levels, checking storm drains and scooping up debris from last month’s Hurricane Helene, hoping to minimize the risk of floods.

Milton remains on track to slam into the west coast of Florida early Thursday as a large and powerful hurricane, bringing a destructive storm surge, damaging winds and severe flooding to many of the same areas still reeling from Hurricane Helene’s devastating flooding and winds less than two weeks ago.

Tropical storm Milton is expected to come ashore near Tampa as a Category 5 hurricane. It will then cut across Florida and hit several theme parks, all in or around Orlando, home to Univeral Orlando.
