Vero Beach residents share traumatic experience after Hurricane Milton-related tornado hit
There were tornadoes in Florida before Hurricane Milton even made landfall. One destroyed homes for miles Wednesday afternoon in Indian River County’s Vero Beach area. Mandy Reese said she was terrified when she realized one was closing in.

No injuries were reported by late afternoon, but there were reported tornado sightings in all three counties. A suspected tornado on U.S. 1 Wednesday evening resulted in significant damage to multiple homes, a Martin County Fire Rescue spokesperson said.
He warned residents to keep tuned to weather alerts in the event a tornado is forecasted ... there's been 3.22 inches of rain in Vero Beach and 1.87 inches in Fort Pierce.
