Thousands of Haitians are facing an uncertain future after surviving a brutal gang attack last week in a small town that killed at least 70 people.

More than 6,000 people were displaced from their homes after a gang attack on 3 October in the central region of Artibonite killed at least 70 people – including three infants – and left dozens wounded.

A gang leader said the bloodshed was meant to cut the capital off from a rice-growing region of Haiti amid starvation conditions.
