A man who climbed part way up the 'Big Ben' clock tower at London's Palace of Westminster early on Saturday and stayed there all day as part of a pro-Palestinian protest, appeared in court on Monday.

A man has been charged after a protester was spotted climbing up the clock tower of Big Ben, police have said. Daniel Day, of Palmerston Road, Westcliff-on-Sea in Essex, has been charged with intentionally or recklessly causing a public nuisance and trespassing on a protected site.

A man who climbed Big Ben's Elizabeth Tower in London on March 8 in an apparent protest was arrested 16 hours later following negotiations with officials.
