Hundreds of people have been forced from their homes in Apache County due to the Greer Fire, which has burned more than 7,000 acres.

A specialized emergency response team took command of the destructive Greer Fire in eastern Arizona on Thursday morning.

GREER, Ariz. (KVOA) - A wildfire near Greer has prompted evacuations and road closures, severely impacting the community. Authorities have issued a "SET" status for everyone east of Southfork and East of 261 within a one-mile radius. All residents of Greer, including those in North Woods and South Fork, are now being evacuated.

On June 7, 2024, police were called to a residence near Rosser Street and Willow Creek Road in Prescott regarding a domestic dispute, but one of the involved individuals, 34-year-old Daniel Leslie, had left the scene prior to the arrival of police, according to authorities.

High winds and rugged terrain are posing challenges for crews battling the destructive Greer Fire in eastern Arizona's White Mountains.
