NEW YORK – The familiar yellow-bordered cover of the monthly National Geographic will no longer be for sale on newsstands starting next year, part of cutbacks affecting the venerable magazine.
Over the years National Geographic has won 25 National Magazine Awards. Last year the magazine won for best photography and for best tablet edition, a category that was eliminated this year.
National Geographic's January 2017 special issue on gender won a National Magazine Award for best single-topic issue. The issue was also named a Pulitzer finalist last year.
