A Kern County student is making strides at the 100th Scripps National Spelling Bee, advancing to Round 3 of the prestigious competition in Washington, D.C.

The Santa Rosa Scuba Divers lost their fifth straight game to open the 2025 season, falling to Bakersfield 6-5 on Monday. Santa Rosa led 5-4 in the bottom of the ninth but couldn't quite hold on.
