After reporting late last week indicated it would be the case, Kansas City has been announced as Los Angeles' season-opening opponent.

The league didn't have to pick the Chiefs, but it did. That came despite avoiding a divisional game in every other international matchup this season and a long history of doing so.

The game will be streamed on YouTube for free, a first for the NFL, which continues to expand its footprint beyond traditional television networks.
