A Maine woman was found suffering from hypothermia and her husband was found dead Thursday, four days after the couple went for a hike in a wooded area behind their home, according to reports.

A Maine man died and his wife was rescued days after they went for a walk in the woods in Maine and got lost — and she may have been saved by her dog keeping her warm in the freezing temperatures.

A casual walk with the dogs turned deadly last week when a husband-and-wife duo became lost in the woods for four days.

Maine officials announced the rescue of Pamela Helmstadter on Thursday, who went missing with her husband John a few days earlier. John had died after suffering a fall.
