The National Mediation Board has called representatives for NJ Transit and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers to a meeting Monday in Washington, D.C., as New Jersey sits on the brink of its first major rail strike in four decades.

Negotiations have broken down over proposed salary increases, but on Friday, the National Mediation Board said it would intervene.

With the threat of an NJ Transit strike looming large​, both sides have been called to Washington, D.C. to meet with a mediator.
