Theme Park company Six Flags Entertainment Corporation announced on May 1 that it plans to shut down the Six Flags America and Hurricane Harbor in Bowie, Md., at the end of the 2025 season.

Six Flags America in Bowie, Maryland, is closing this year after its owner determined it was "not a strategic fit with the company’s long-term growth plan."

Six Flags America in Bowie, Maryland, will permanently close after the 2025 season, with its final day set for November 2. CEO Richard Zimmerman said the decision followed a strategic review and that selling the property for redevelopment would maximize value and support the company’s portfolio optimization strategy.
