Microsoft hasn't secretly raised Surface prices, as earlier reports claimed. Instead, it has removed the base models of the Surface Pro 13-inch and Surface Laptop 13.8-inch from Microsoft.com, according to a statement by Nancie Gaskill,

You can preorder the new Surface Laptop 13-inch today at Microsoft’s own store, Amazon, or Best Buy, with pricing starting at $899. Microsoft is shipping the new Surface Laptop and a smaller 12-inch Surface Pro on May 20th to consumers, and businesses will be able to purchase these devices on July 22nd.

The Surface Laptop and Surface Pro are lighter and thinner, with pared-down specs, but the 2024 models are better and available for the same prices, if not less.
