It’s unclear who shot a video of a construction excavator knocking down a large portion of the westbound Washington Bridge last Friday, sending debris slamming down onto two barges and into the Seekonk River.

St. Martin said that the demolition posed no danger to the still-in-use span of the Washington Bridge, which is carrying traffic in both directions on Interstate 195 and was 150 feet away. He added that the barges were not damaged and will be reused.

The demolition of a large chunk of the condemned westbound Washington Bridge went "according to plan," according to RIDOT.
