One person is dead after crashing a motorcycle into a street lamp early Sunday morning in Kansas City, Missouri.

The vehicle, a Honda 450R, had been speeding south on Grand Boulevard when it left the roadway and hit a light pole, police said.

A motorcyclist died early Sunday morning after crashing into a streetlight pole on Grand Boulevard. The incident occurred at 1:40 a.m. when a red and white Honda 450R, traveling southbound at a high rate of speed, veered off the road near 22nd Street and collided with the pole.

The crash happened about 12:10 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Como Road and Alder Drive in the town of Geneva, northwest of Lake Geneva.

The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene, and no other injuries were reported from the other vehicles.

As 70-year-old Danny Mays was riding a Harley Davidson on Black Oak Road, he reportedly left the roadway and overturned.
