Part of the M8 near Glasgow has been shut off, after police received reports that 'a man with a weapon' had been spotted. A slip road onto the M8 was closed just before 9am this morning.

Police have arrested a 35-year-old man and recovered a firearm following reports of an armed man on a motorway slip road. Officers said they were called to the M8 slip road at Junction 6 near Chapelhall at about 8.55am on Monday, but that the man had left the scene on foot by the time they arrived.
