Max Verstappen extended his championship lead over Lando Norris by winning the sprint race before finishing ahead of the Briton in Sunday's United States Grand Prix. AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Charles Leclerc gave Ferrari its first United States Grand Prix victory since 2018 with a commanding drive Sunday, and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen strengthened his lead in the F1 season championship with a podium finish awarded by a late penalty on McLaren’s Lando Norris.

Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz finished second, 3.882 seconds behind Verstappen, after passing Norris on the 19th and last lap at Austin’s Circuit of the Americas.
