Section 31 can't be understated. The film was supposed to usher in the next era of Star Trek entertainment, with more made-for-streaming films being made, all about different concepts. It was a unique idea and would set up Star Trek to be able to tell some stories without having to invest hundreds of millions of dollars into a project.
