A State Fair of Texas visitor was hospitalized Tuesday after being struck by an out-of-control Dallas police horse. The officer on the horse was thrown to the ground. It happened in the plaza where Big Tex stands.

A Dallas Mounted Officer was patrolling in the Big Tex circle when the horse became startled, the State Fair said.

The Dallas Police Department said in a statement that a Dallas officer was riding a horse patrolling the State Fair. He was at the Big Tex Circle when his horse was startled. The officer was injured trying to calm the horse and was bucked off.
