I bought this Technics SL-D1 TT 5+ years ago used in good condition. TT came with a Pickering D400 which plays/sounds good from start to finish of album side. More recently, I have been using a Shure M91ED cartridge with original stylus with good results tracking at .8-1.0 gram.

Sep 9, 2022 · The SL-D1 replaced the SL-2000; the SL-D2 replaced the SL-3200; the SL-D3 replaced the SL-1900 and SL-3300; the SL-D5 replaced the SL-1950 and SL-3350. In those cases, the D_ turntables have similar build quality as the turntables they replaced, with better specs than the 1900-1950-2000, and similar specs as the 3200-3300-3350.

Other than the above, the quality and reliability of the SL-DL1 is superb. There is no rumble from the direct drive, no appreciable wow & flutter, and the thoughtful inclusion of the strobe and pitch control, means you can perfectly adjust the playing speeds for all electricity systems.
SL-D1 Need a Preamp? - Vinyl Engine
May 18, 2016 · I bought an SL-D1 and routed it through the 5 Din cable but the sound barely 50hz comes through the amp. The original TT came through fine it just lagged a little because of the setup. Now the question, do I need a preamp between the TT and the amp?

Feb 5, 2018 · The SL-D1 is from the same family as the SL-D2 (semi-automatic) and SL-D3 (fully automatic). The tonearm has the same specs: 230 mm effective length, 15 mm overhang. So the spindle-to-pivot or mounting distance is 215 mm.

Technics sl-d2, no words, is still my primary turntable, very heavy platter, easy to use, excellent engine, and the tonearm is fantastic. I love this turntable because there isn't electronic control on speed, and there aren't variation on speed during playback.
