Dec 7, 2024 · Hopefully Club World Cup is a flop. Most games are during the week and the kickoff times are early. I believe they negotiated with US Soccer and the Concacaf Gold cup got the Prime time evening kickoff times. Even some of the knockout games are early weekdays. Given ticket prices and kickoff times I see lots of empty seats on TV.

Apr 30, 2009 · Mainly they're applying the national team World Cup principle of avoiding overlaps outside of the last group match. Seems like some FIFA hubris to expect that the audience wants the same kind of scheduling for this one.

Feb 9, 2014 · As much as I hated the idea of a winter World Cup the first time around, it actually worked out for the post-COVID timeline. Like, Euro 2020 having been delayed to 2021, it made sense to then have a year and a half gap until the 2022 World Cup with a year and a half after that until Euro 2024. Space out the irregular gaps evenly.
