Coleman National Fish Hatchery is seeing the strongest salmon returns in years! Numbers like this on the upper Sac really bring hope for continued recovery. Some of these fish may be from a project where GSSA worked with federal agencies and Coleman hatchery staff to release millions of baby salmon fry into the upper river. That work included support for parent-based DNA tagging (PBT) to track these fish since they were too small for coded wire tags. We’re anxiously awaiting the results of this
